Elegy For Jody Ballew

Say Your Piece

This site is built from the love, stories, and memories of the people who knew Jody. If you’d like to add your own photos, stories, or pieces of his work, this form is the place to do it.

For those of you who like details, here’s how it works:

  • Choose what to share. You can submit photos of Jody, stories or remembrances (including your own Jody-related art), and pieces of Jody’s artwork or writing. You’re welcome to submit just one, or a combination… whatever feels right to you. You can always come back and add more, later – the site will be here.
  • Fill in the details. Add a title (required for stories), a short description or caption, and your name if you’d like it to appear. If you prefer, you can leave the name field blank and your submission will be listed as Anonymous. You can also share how you knew Jody, which will display alongside your name.
  • Upload your files.
    • Photos: You can upload up to 8 images at once.
    • Stories: You can add a story in text form and, if you’d like, include a photo.
    • Artwork/Writing: Upload a photo of a piece of Jody’s artwork, or a file of his writing (for everyone’s safety and our own sanity, we only accept PDFs, text files, or RTFs.)
  • What happens next. When you hit submit, your entry will be saved as a draft so it can be quickly reviewed before publishing. We do this to make sure everything displays correctly and is respectful to the community. Once approved, it will appear in the section you’ve chosen.

Are you a special flower?

If something you want to share doesn’t quite fit into these categories, or if you run into trouble using the form, you can always reach out to us directly and we’ll help you figure out how to make sure your contribution finds its place here (for example, D’nelle’s already making noises about YouTube video embeds, so we’re working on solving that one).

This space belongs to all of us who loved Jody.
Every photo, story, and piece of art you add helps keep him close and builds a collective memory that will last.
