Before Covid hit, my husband and I were out on a Christmas tour with LeAnn Rimes. We had a show at the Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin, NC, and Jody popped up to visit us. He showed up in overalls before soundcheck, grabbed a santa hat, and helped me set up the merch booth. He was, as always, helpful in the most thoughtful of ways. I had to shoo him away to go into the theater to actually watch the show.

I didn’t understand how much that might meant to him, although I do always love getting friends in to see shows I’m working. For years afterwards, he mentioned that day on a regular basis. Right about now, I’m kicking myself for not being able to find the photo of him in his overalls & santa hat, but I can see it clear as day when I close my eyes.
