Elegy For Jody Ballew

Story Image

My son from another mother

Jody you always brought me joy.  You hung out at my house during your high school years and just fit right in our family.  I have many funny stories but I will tell one that was funny but embarrassing to me.   I always kept snacks in one large cabinet so the guys would have a choice of junk food. One day you got there after I had put away the dinner.  You dove into the refrigerator. To my embarrassment, you found a long lost dish of spaghetti.  There was beautiful molds growing in flower like designs that looked more like artwork than spaghetti!  I was horrified! You were delighted. You wanted to take it to school the next day to show your science class. I wouldn’t let you as I would have died of embarrassment. You know I love you and I miss the days you were in my home, making yourself at home, and being part of my family.  Save me a spot close by and you can have the junk food cabinet stocked for when I get there. No moldy spaghetti. Nope, nope, nope.
